Eid Mubarak

On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr we encourage you to perform the Salaah (instructions below) at 8:15 AM.

Sunnah of Eid-ul-Fitr

  • Take a bath (Ghusl) before prayer.
  • Eat an odd number of dates or something sweet before Eid Prayers.
  • Dress your absolute best (while showing modesty).
  • Proclaim the Takbeer “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illAllah; Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, walillahil-hamd” from after Fajr until the Eid prayer. 
  • Wishing one another by saying “May Allah accept from us and you”. 
  • Distribute Sadaqat-ul-Fitr before the Eid prayer.

How to Pray eid-ul-fitr salaah

There are different ways to pray Eid-ul-Fitr Salaah. There is no Adhaan or Iqamah for the prayer.

Method 1

The first Raka’ah

  • Step 1: Make an intention of doing two Raka’at for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer facing the Qiblah for the sake of Allah.
  • Step 2: After saying “Allahu Akbar” the first time, raise your hands and fold them as usual. This is the first Takbeer of the prayer and then recite the Du’a of starting the prayer (Thana).
  • Step 3: There will be 6 extra Takbeers before beginning recitation of the Quran. Each time you say “Allahu Akbar”, raise your hands, then put them down by your sides.  After the seventh Takbeer, you should fold your hands again as usual and begin recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and another Surah.
  • Step 4: Then say “Allahu Akbar” and go to Ruku (the bowing position).
  • Step 5: Stand up straight after Sami Allahu liman Hamidah.
  • Step 6: Then say “Allahu Akbar” go to Sujud (prostration). You will do two prostrations as in normal prayer.


The second Raka’ah

  • Step 7: After the Takbeer of standing for the second Raka’ah, there will be 5 extra Takbeers before beginning recitation of Qur’an. Each time you say “Allahu Akbar”, raise your hands, then put them down by your sides.  After the fifth Takbeer, you should fold your hands again as usual and begin recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and another Surah.
  • Step 8: You then complete the Salaah like your regular prayer.

Method 2

The first Raka’ah

  • Step 1: Make an intention of doing two Raka’at for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer facing the Qiblah for the sake of Allah.
